Putty 2026 - BE WEIRD.

It's that time of the year. Putty is back for 2026! Our iconic DIPA returns once again, bursting with lush tropical fruit, a pillowy-soft mouthfeel, and that unmistakable Verdant haze. Putty has always been a beer that brings people together, shared and enjoyed around the country on the same day. This year, we’re celebrating the release by embracing uniqueness and self-expression with a simple message: Be Weird.

Webshop and Taproom Can Drop - 21.01.26

Fresh cans of Putty 2026 will land on our webshop on Wednesday, 21st January at 10:30am. As ever, we expect it to be a very popular release, so set your alarms, clear some fridge space, and be ready!

If you're local to us, our Taproom in Penryn will also have cans available for take-away on the 21st, as well as being the first venue to pour Putty 2026 on tap.

Putty Day – (Inter)National Draught & Can Launch

On Friday, 23rd January, we’ll be celebrating Putty Day 2026. Putty will be pouring on tap and available in cans at 150+ venues across the UK as part of a nationwide Verdant Tap takeover. Whether you’re plotting a slightly chaotic Putty-fuelled pub crawl, or just heading to your trusted local for a taste of the 2026 version, there’ll be plenty of places ready to pour this year’s batch.

We’ll also be sending kegs and cans of Putty 2026 further afield, with the beer landing in 60+ venues across Europe and Asia over the following weeks.

What Makes Putty Special?

As you probably already know, we initially envisioned Putty as a distinctive beer, crafted for the debut of the Hop City festival back in 2017. We aimed to create something that could proudly stand alongside the heavyweights in the hazy beer world and create some hype for our Verdant Brewing Co... and it certainly did! Within a few hours, we were completely sold out, and the demand persisted. It was clear that we had to brew it again.

Since that inaugural success, Putty has been an annual release in January, and of course, we've stuck to the original recipe for this Double IPA. It features a malt base of Golden Promise, a higher-than-normal proportion of wheat malt, along with generous amounts of oats and flaked wheat to provide a well-rounded flavour. The water profile is delicately soft, and we employ substantial whirlpool additions of Galaxy, Mosaic, and Azacca hops. This is followed by an extensive dry hop, with equal parts Mosaic/Galaxy and slightly less Azacca.

Every year, our brewers go the extra mile to create a DIPA that’s perfectly balanced yet bursting with flavour. This year’s brew is no exception. Expect juicy notes of mango, passionfruit, and peach, complemented by subtle hints of resinous pine. It’s everything you love about Putty.

BE WEIRD.

This year's label has been designed by illustrator and animator Craig Boylan. We asked him a few questions

How did you find your creative style?
My style came from experimenting in making 3D version of Bauhaus posters, this led to the Baumann character with has slowly morphed into a toy like minimal style I have today.

How long have you been creating?
I’ve been working in the creative industries in one form or another for over 15 years.

Can you describe your work process and the tools you use?
I work mostly in 3D, I also have a background graphic design, motion graphics and VFX, which all come in handy when woking on my own practice. I use Maxon’s Cinema 4D, and the Adobe Creative Cloud app such as illustrator and After Effects

How did your art evolve into the final 2026 Putty can design?
I began by doing research into surreal art work, such as Miro, leonora carrington and Matisse. I then did some exploration in my sketch book, just putting ideas down on paper. It was great fun. I was keen to keep my character style at the forefront, during this process the idea of being weird was as much an internal thing, as an external physical thing, which led to the idea of looking into the characters head. Through some discussion with Jim we came up with the notion that there would be 3 different states, Contemplation, projection and the inner most state,Weird!

What were the challenges in adapting your design for a can?
Space is always a consideration, my style leans towards the minimal, so it was tricky telling the story while maintaining this aesthetic

What is beyond your wildest dreams?
I’d love to bring my work into the real work as large scale sculptures in public spaces.

Who do you take the most inspiration from and why?
This is tricky as I take inspiration from so may places, but I would say cinema is the biggest source of inspiration for me. Cinema offers such a sophisticated array of ways to communicate with the audience and can have have such a massive impact or just be fun. I hope I can bring some of these principles into my work.
